Since September we have been told that Times Square would be closed for its usual NYE festivities. Due to the virus, I still have my doubts as to whether we should be congregating in such large groups instead of staying away from one another. But that’s a whole other story.
But in true Bill DeBlasio style, he continues to remind us time and again how out of touch he is with his constituents and with reality. Photo after photo showed empty streets, occupied only by police officers either on horseback or standing guard to turn away anyone who might venture into the death zone.
But who was there? Who thought it would be a great photo op, or thought it would be cute to post a video of he and his wife dancing in Times Square as the rest of New York sat in their houses? That’s right. Big Bill.
He actually had the nerve to go to Times Square and to post a video of him dancing. A multi million dollar private dance party that he and I’m sure some of his staff could enjoy without the common people ruining it.
Now remember folks, this is the same mayor who allowed protests and riots to occur in Times Square and around the city during the summer months. Riots and protests that he condoned because he doesn’t have the stones to stand up to ANTIFA and BLM.
Personally, I don’t think it was cute and I don’t think it was appropriate. He should have been at home like the rest of us. What exactly was he trying to show? Was he trying to prove something? The only thing that I saw was an out of touch Mayor once again ignoring the rules that he put in place to keep people out. He is an elitist, and what makes it worse, he doesn’t care.
Let’s imagine for a moment that they carefully planned this celebration and allowed a small number of people to attend the ball drop. They could have sold tickets, gave them away, whatever. They could have been in control of a much smaller crowds and businesses could have been open, especially restaurants to make some cash. I may be wrong (but I know I’m not) that NYE is probably one of the biggest nights of the year for some of these restaurants. A cash bonanza!
But, sad to say, good old Bill has turned a blind eye to the people of the city. And as he has done his entire time as Mayor is through his actions tell everyone, “Do as I say, not as I do.”
To be honest with you I am finding it more and more difficult to have any sympathy for the folks in NYC. Ok, I get it. You voted him in once. But you didn’t learn from that mistake and you voted him in for a second term.
What do they say? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
If you folks haven’t learned your lesson from this moron by now, you deserve what you get.
